n 1904, Villa Huize Broekhoven was built on the site where Broeckhoven Castle once stood. Bedaux de Brouwer Architecten has designed an extension for the monumental villa located in a large park-like garden as a pavilion in the landscape. The pavilion is connected to the villa via a glass corridor. We respected the existing trees and designed the building around them, creating an intimate patio. The villa is in the Leydal and the landscape slopes down towards the river. The level of the house is above ground level, which benefits the privacy of the residents. A special feature of the design is the double facade, in which the glass surface is deeply recessed, which also enhances privacy. The house is a stone's throw from the ETZ hospital and the extension is approximately 500m2 over one layer. The interior has a warm, homely atmosphere and accommodation is available for young people with a physical and/or (slight) mental disability. The pavilion connects to the villa in materialsation and is plastered. Landscape architect Edith Kolkman designed the park.
