A man in Belfast is scheduled to appear in court next month following the release of a video showing a man and a woman performing a sex act in the back of a cab.

The 54-year-old was charged with unauthorized use of a public electronic communications network.

The man will appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court next month.

The charge comes after the video, broken into three segments, was circulated on social media earlier this month.

The couple say they faced a barrage of abuse online after the incident, with the male saying: "A complaint was made against the company. I started getting racist stuff as well."

The PSNI asked at the time for people not to share the footage.

When the male passenger goes to pay the fare at the end of the clip he leaves a tip with the driver who is heard saying it was "cheaper than a room" when it came to the cost of the journey.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
