My NLT version of the Bible I'm reading is pretty Americanified, and for that, I'm thankful. Some merciful soul has taken the time to convert whatever measurements the original text denoted and turn it into feet for the lay readers like me. So, because of these conversions, my limited math skills and the wisdom I've gained over the years from house hunting, I can kind of picture how large the Temple actually was. From these measurements, and forgive my Americanized translation, but it's what I got, I can tell that the Temple was about twice the size of the biggest and only house I ever owned, which was right around 1,700 square feet. Then the Most Holy Place added another 900 square feet to the structure. Those cherubim, tho! Can you imagine walking through that entryway! Sometimes great structures like that both amaze me and completely freak me out. We see lots of humongous temples and Buddhas in Thailand. It's one thing to see them from the highway, but it's a whole other ball game when you're head on!

Take the Temple's measurements and put them into measurements you can visualize and then compare the measurements to a similarly sized structure with which you are familiar.
