Hernando Retion McJunkins, 39, of Birmingham, Alabama, United States has passed away. He was allegedly killed by Christopher Garcia Spencer, 35, of Birmingham and Ira Dexter Eaton Jr., 29, of Irondale, Alabama, USA.
At around 2:30 a.m. on August 17, 2021, Eaton allegedly used a pistol to shoot McJunkins outside the King's Inn on Third Avenue North in Birmingham. The suspect allegedly fled the scene in an unknown vehicle and the victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:56 a.m.
On August 18, 2021, Birmingham Police Department's Community Safety Partnership Unit officers arrested Eaton on Joppa Avenue in Birmingham. Charged with murder, he was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and held without bond on August 20, 2021.
On August 27, 2021, Philadelphia Police Department officers arrested Spencer in Philadelphia, Mississippi, USA. He is awaiting extradition to the Jefferson County Jail.
Spencer was also charged with murder. Details about his involvement in the fatal shooting of McJunkins were not released.
