Rory Sabbatini

Rory Mario Trevor Sabbatini is a South African professional golfer. He is of Italian, Scottish and Irish descent.

Born in Durban, South Africa, Sabbatini has dual citizenship in the United States and a passport through the United Kingdom. He started playing golf in 1980 but he started concentrating on it in 1988.

Recruited by the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, United States, Sabbatini made his professional golf debut in 1998. He was 23 years old when he joined the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour in 1999 making him the youngest member of the tour that year.

  11. In January 2019, he changed his citizenship from South African to Slovakian. He tied for 43rd place at the 2019 U.S. Open and tied for 16th place at the 2019 Open Championship.
  12. He tied for 66th place at the 2020 PGA Championship, which was held in San Francisco, California, USA on August 6-9, 2020. He solely represented Slovakia at the 2020 U.S. Open, which took place in Mamaroneck, New York, USA from September 17–20, 2020, and tied for 59th place.
  13. On August 1, 2021, he represented Slovakia in men's individual golf at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan and won the silver medal behind gold medalist Xander Schauffele of the U.S.
