She attended Cardiff University in Cardiff, Wales and Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. After graduation, she went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA to look for a job. She landed a job writing for the children's nature magazine Ranger Rick.
As a writer, she sometimes used Emily Marsden as her pen name.
To research her stories, she visited several countries including Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
She is the author of "The Skeleton Book," a children's science book.
She and her husband Antonio Livaudais married in Philadelphia.
She and Antonio have two daughters namely Molly Livaudais and Ariel Livaudais.
From Philadelphia, she, Antonio and their daughters moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for the architectural office of Cabell Childress.
On December 7, 1978, she was fatally stabbed in her Denver residence by an unknown intruder.
She died at the age of 33.
