Greenland is an island country in North America. It is the world's largest island and is divided into five municipalities namely Avannaata, Kujalleq, Qeqertalik, Qeqqara and Sermersooq.
Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland are the three constituent countries of the Kingdom of Denmark. On June 21, 2009, Greenland gained self-rule with provisions for assuming responsibility for self-government of policing, judicial affairs and natural resources.
Mikaela Engell, 64, is the incumbent and sixth high commissioner of Greenland. She assumed office on February 1, 2011.
