Russian President Vladimir Putin was left twitching his toes today after his 'ally,' Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, gave him the cold shoulder.
It is not the first time the inscrutable central Asian leader has made clear his disapproval of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During Moscow talks, the cameras show how Tokayev studiously refused to look Putin in the eye.
As they met, the Russian president twitched his feet, seen by some as a sign of health issues
The Kremlin leader has long been suspected of having Parkinson's disease or a similar condition.
Putin's twitching feet today could have also been a sign of nerves, given the icy air surrounding his morning meeting.
At a signing ceremony, the 69-year-old Kazakh president sat down before his host and did not engage with the Russian leader.
After they exchanged signatures on a document marking 30 years of diplomatic relations, Tokayev momentarily held up the agreement with Putin, then handed it to an aide as if he couldn't wait to leave.
Looking puffy-faced and tired, Putin, 70, was still holding up his copy of the agreement posing for the cameras.

When he spoke, Tokayev said there was 'every reason to be satisfied' with relations between Russia and Kazakhstan but warned Putin: 'You need to look ahead, and it is for this purpose that I have come here.'
As Putin had greeted Tokayev, the Kazakh leader appeared to deliberately avert his eyes from the warmonger.
When the pair sat down in front of journalists, Putin asked: 'Shall I start?'
Tokayev replied with a curt 'Yes' without looking at his host, and showed no personal warmth towards the Kremlin leader.
Today's visit is of a special significance, as this is the first [foreign trip] since Kassym-Jomart was re-elected the president of Kazakhstan,' said Putin.
Kazakhstan has irritated Putin by allowing tens of thousands of men fleeing Putin's draft to seek refuge in his country.
Like other ex-Soviet leaders he has failed to give Russia the support it wants regarding the war.
'We must not allow the fraternal Russian and Ukrainian peoples to part ways for tens or hundreds of years with mutual unhealed grievances,' Tokayev lectured Putin last week at a security conference in Armenia.
Tokayev demanded a 'joint collective search for a formula for peace' in Ukraine.
In today's session as they exchanged documents there was a brief handshake and eye contact, but only for a split second.
