San Jose: 9th November 2022
The minibus to take us to the airport turned up at precisely 2 am ...ungodly hour!! ... and KLM's B737 to Amsterdam was more comfortable than I expected. They even managed to serve out drinks and a packet of crisps on the short flight.
We had quite a wait at Amsterdam, though ... plenty of time for a coffee and a panini for breakfast, and looking forward to lunch and a nice kip on the flight to San Jose. We sat near the end of a moving walkway, and users were advised by a robotic voice to 'mind the step ' as they approached the end. This happened every time someone used the walkway, which became annoying after a very short time.
Slight glitch here, but nothing that could be laid at the door of the tour company. KLM decided to switch the aircraft to a B777. That had a different seat configuration to the aircraft we were scheduled to fly on. There was no 'Comfort Economy', for which we'd paid extra. But, we were promised a refund.
The standard economy seat, though, wasn't too much of a discomfort, even on a long flight. And, everything was forgiven when the meal came ... meatballs in a delicious sauce, which was one of the best airline meals I ever had.
We were bussed to the hotel in pretty short order. Not much to report here; it was already dark, although it was only early evening 'their time'. We didn't eat, because we'd already been fed on the aircraft. And, we're leaving for Tortuguero very early in the morning.
