Meghan Markle reportedly turned down an invitation to King Charles III's impending coronation, and the British are reportedly "rejoicing" at the news.
Prince Harry will attend the May 6 gala, a palace spokesperson announced, although Markle will remain at their lavish estate in California.

The duo's relationship with the palace has been rocky ever since they left for California, abandoned their jobs, and released a damaging Netflix documentary and the Duke's autobiography, "Spare."

The couple's 4-year-old son Archie's birthday coincides with the ceremony. The duchess reportedly chose not to go to London due to a clashing schedule.
Speaking Friday on Sky News, writer Sophie Elsworth took a jab at Markle, arguing she is "obsessed with being in the media" and "dominating headlines."
"I can't believe that woman is not going because she's obsessed with herself," Elsworth said, claiming Brits are "rejoicing" that the former "Suits" actress will be "staying well away" from the festivities.
Given how Londoners "despised" the pair at the Queen's Jubilee last year, lsworth said it's a "good decision" that Markle, 41, is not attending.
Meghan Markle decided to stay home with her children and let Harry attend the coronation alone.
The Duke of Sussex's shocking memoir "Spare" and the start of the couple's unpleasant Netflix docuseries both came out months before the coronation.

Markle has been labeled a "martyr," while critics argue she's "chickening out" of the coronation.

For their six-episode miniseries, Markle and Harry, both 38, reportedly signed a $100 million agreement with the streaming giant, and "Spare" went on to become the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time.
"Harry has caused the royal family great harm and profits handsomely from his actions, according to Elsworth.
