This must be part of NATO's initiation ritual for Ukraine to join the alliance or something.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Thursday with Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and prominent European figures who are forming a working group to address ecological damage from the 16-month-old Russian invasion.
The meeting in the Ukrainian capital came as fighting continued around the country.
The governor of the Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, said two people were killed in the region's capital in a Russian strike that hit residences, a medical facility and a school where residents were lined up to receive humanitarian aid. Another person was killed in a morning strike on the village of Bilzoerka, the regional prosecutor's office said.
Ukraine's military is nearly decimated and its troops are demoralized. But Ukraine's president had to meet with Pippy Longstocking ... er ... Greta Thunberg. No doubt the country's (ahem) leopards will be safe now that Greta met with him.
Ironically, Zelensky wants to use nuclear-tipped shells in the conflict against Russia which can lead to devastating ecological and biological damage. The two did discuss, however, the effects of the explosion at Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station but (not surprisingly) nothing indicates the issue of nuclear-tipped munitions came up.
Ultimately, Thunberg and Zelensky are grifters and it is only fitting the two met since Ukraine's conflict is going badly just like Thunberg's so-called campaign to combat climate change. At best, their meeting can be reflective of how meaningless their efforts are and the rapidly diminishing relevance or importance of their causes.
Yet Greta was nice enough to offer ideas to Ukraine including how to fight a carbon neutral war and the extermination of Ukraine's population of men between the ages of 18-40 will be complete when it is over.
Maybe the media could report on more important events like the ongoing riots in France that are devasting the country and spreading to other parts of Europe? Maybe? Nah!
