This past week we had our nearly three-year-old granddaughter come to our house for an afternoon and she stayed for a sleep over. We went down to the Forks and our granddaughter had a great time running down the hill in the Oodena Circle and wending her way through the Eighth Fire Sculpture.
She loved the slides and other equipment at the playground behind the Children's Museum. She was having fun and getting exercise.
Then a few days later I went to visit my Dad at his nursing home. When I arrived Dad was bowling. He was sitting in his wheelchair where he spends his days now and throwing a basketball at a set of large rubber bowling pins set up by the activity director on his ward.
Some of his fellow residents were watching and cheering him on with big smiles on their faces. Dad had a smile on his face when he knocked down a bunch of pins. He was having fun and getting exercise.
The circle of life.
