| Mark Joseph Jochim Dec 1 | My 18th Christmas in Thailand and it still feels odd celebrating this particular holiday in a predominantly Buddhist country that is decidedly non-wintry. In Thai government schools, it is just another working day albeit with some form of celebration (a three- or four-day break occurs at the New Year itself). I have played Santa Claus for at least the past ten years and I can tell you that it is VERY HOT wearing that suit with the false beard. To see the joy on the faces of kids and adults alike when I enter the room, however, makes any discomfort worth it. I am rather disappointed that I only finished half of my six-book November TBR: - Beyond Bullets: Creative Journaling Ideas to Customize Your Personal Productivity System by Megan Rutell (published November 7, 2017)
- Thanksgiving: The Holiday at the Heart of the American Experience by Melanie Kirkpatrick (published October 11, 2016)
- Ordinary Monsters by J. M. Miro (published June 7, 2022)
I carried two of the unread books from last month to start off my December TBR as well as a couple of holdovers from earlier in the year. Add in a book about the history of Christmas and one on bullet journaling and it quickly became a six-book list. I may add another holiday-related title or two if I can get through these in a timely manner. - The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (published August 13, 2020)
- The Civil War Journal of Private Heyward Emmell, Ambulance and Infantry Corps: A Very Disagreeable War by Jim Malcolm (published May 31, 2011)
- Cave of Bones by Anne Hillerman (published April 3, 2018)
- The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson (published May 7, 2019)
- Christmas: A Candid History by Bruce David Forbes (published October 10, 2007)
- Dot Journaling: A Practical Guide by Rachel Wilkerson Miller (published July 31, 2007)
