I have been trying for months to make a list of all the jobs I worked. It's not as easy as you'd think it would be. We moved around. I never finished college. Worked a lot of jobs. Didn't have an actual career until my early fifties. And my memory isn't what it used to be. I also wonder if … in the way that time goes by really fast in my old age, in my youth perhaps it seemed like I worked someplace for a really long time but I'm just remembering it that way; it may have seemed like an eternity but was only a year, like. So here's what I've got:

1969 / Jack in the Box fast food (high school)
1970–71 / Carter's Card Shop at the mall (high school)
fall 1971 / started Merced Jr. College
late 1971 / Gottschalks department store (Christmas help)

I made my wedding dress and it was on a mannequin that summer

1975 / worked briefly at some kind of construction-ish place, the ofc mgr was older 50s and nice; other 2 women were judgmental gossips; I quit

1976–77 / Husqvarna Motorcycle Company (then company moved to Southern Cal; I flew out and helped hire and train my replacement)

1979 / started classes at MTSU; I think I may have worked at the record store on Baird
1979 / clothing store (Cato), awful place, finally couldn't take it and quit.
1980 / record store on Baird Lane, Jerry (boss). I was there when Lennon was shot 1980; classes at MTSU during this time

1981–2 / secretary for Gene and Mary Hooker, friends of Kent's
Murfreesboro, TN
1982 / Citizens Central Bank (the weird phone call guy, I quit)
1983 / Larry Lowman, walking horse photographer (had to quit due to morning sickness)
1983, late / Citizens Central Bank (while I was pregnant; they called, asked me to work)
Houma, LA and Pineville, LA
1984–86 / move to LA Jesse was 10 mos old, I was a stay-at-home mom
Springdale, AR
1986 / move to AR for Joe's job, Jesse's mom, then
1986–90 / Body Drench distributor; self-employed
