This is a sad film about death and grief. It touches on how people may be mentally affected by death and grief.
It provides 80s nostalgia; with 80s music, decor, cassette tapes and printed photographs in those packets you used to get them back from the pharmacy in. Andrew Scott's character is able to visit his parents as an adults as they were in the 1980s. An interesting concept being able to see your parents as young parents with adult eyes.
The film also features homosexuality and shows how attitudes have changed since the 80s.
As regards the actors:
I found Claire Foy a little unconvincing.
Andrew Scott is gorgeous and got so much together with just eye or tongue movements.
Paul Mesccal is scruffier than when he was Connal; I wanted to shave his moustache.
I was not quite sure where the story was going so it was good to be kept guessing. Overall although not blown away by the film it was an interesting watch.
