Dave had decided since we were holidaying in Texas he wanted to watch the Super Bowl with a big American crowd. So on Sunday, he booked 18 rounds of golf for us at a popular San Antonio course, a round that would end just as coverage of the Super Bowl began. He reserved a spot for us in the golf course clubhouse restaurant to have supper and watch the game.
It was a great day for golf and we had a good round
We arrived at the clubhouse after our golf game only to find it empty and no Super Bowl coverage on the television. The waitress thought some folks might join us and thought she might be able to find the game on the TV for us. We decided to try our luck elsewhere.
We headed over to the Sports 7 bar. Yes, the game was on but five women were the only other folks watching. Maybe more would come. A guy had set up his smoker on the patio and would be serving pulled pork sandwiches for $5.
We bought a drink and while we were watching the pre-game show all of a sudden the guy packed up his smoker and took off. We hadn't eaten since breakfast. We would need food before the end of the game. Now there wasn't any!
Back in the car we got and headed to a place called Twin Peaks. I went in to check it out and there was a HUGE crowd cheering on the game with plates of delicious-looking food in front of them. But.......... they were at capacity and couldn't allow any more guests in.
I suggested we just go home but Dave was determined! Finally, we found a place called The Ice House.
They had tables free!
They had a big food menu with lots of variety!
They had beverages!
They had huge big-screen TVs to watch the game!
They had a nice-sized crowd to watch with us!
We were in business! Dave was so happy! "I'm having such a good time- aren't you?" he kept saying.
I was just glad that he'd found the Super Bowl Party of his dreams and was content!
