Veteran Nollywood actor, John Okarfor with the stage name "Mr Ibu" is dead.
His death was confirmed by the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria Emeka Rollas Ejezie on Saturday evening.
According to Ejezie, Mr Ibu had a cardiac arrest sometime on Saturday.
"I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn't make it," he said in an Instagram post.
It was revealed that the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare Hospital, as many fans shared condolences on X, reminiscing about movies the late actor featured.
The actor had been battling health issues since October 2023 and had undergone multiple surgeries that led to the amputation of his leg. However, updates from his family in November indicated he was recovering.
In 2019, Mr Ibu alleged that his kinsmen paid some of his domestic workers to poison him because of his successful career.
In May 2022, the comic actor again alleged that he was poisoned for the third time.
