(This is an edited version of a post by Josiah Pitcarn…Thank you, Joseph!)
Let us ponder for a moment , what is the calling of a Christian ?
For we are instructed:
" Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called ". Ephesians 4 v 1
Our calling is to fellowship with our Savior the Lord Jesus.
As the scripture says:
"God is faithful, by whom you were CALLED into the FELLOWSHIP of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord ." 1 Corinthians 1 v 9
The word fellowship or communion , which is the same word in Greek, means to communicate, to talk.
This is extremely important, for all the Godly fruit which we bear in our lives comes out of our personal relationship with Jesus.
And this calling to share our lives with Jesus will result in us sharing his glory throughout eternity:
" To which HE CALLED YOU by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Thessalonians 2 v 14
Nothing, no one, no group is to take the place of Christ in the life of a Christian!
For the scripture teaches about the Lord Jesus:
"Who DIED for us, that whether we WAKE or SLEEP, we should LIVE TOGETHER with Him." 1 Thessalonians 5 v 10
Moving on now to the Holy Spirit , scripture teaches that true believers enjoy fellowship with the Holy Spirit also.
As we are taught by that wonderful Trinity verse:
"The grace of the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and the love of GOD,
and the FELLOWSHIP of the HOLY SPIRIT be with you all. Amen."
2 Corinthians 13 v 14.
Scripture teaches us that He abides within us as our guide, our comforter, and our teacher who has sealed us for the day of redemption.
And the 'Good News' is that with the Holy Spirit indwelling us, we have access to his Father also:
" For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear. But you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, " Abba, Father!" Romans 8 v 15
And therefore we fellowship with the Father also:
"Truly our FELLOWSHIP is with the FATHER and with His SON
Jesus Christ." 1 John 3b.
So then , as we can see from scripture, real Christians fellowship with all three members of the Trinity.
If a person isn't in a right relationship with these Three, that person is missing out on the joys of a relationship with the living God, now and also throughout eternity. Only Christ can put us in a right relationship with God.
Run into the outstretched arms of Jesus and he will forgive your sins and heal your life.
"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.""
Acts 4:12 CSB
Clearly, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together leading us to life in Christ… See Romans Chapter 8 https://bible.com/bible/1713/rom.8.12-39.CSB
"…according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient and to be sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be multiplied to you." 1 Peter 1:2 CSB
For that is why he came, as he himself said:
" The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me.To preach good tidings to the poor. He has sent Me to HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED. To proclaim liberty to the captives. And the opening of the prison to those who are bound." Isaiah 61 v 1
