April 21
1353/19th April 2024
Forsythia is in bloom everywhere.
.
It seems to me that last year at some point I observed the flora developing in colour-coordinated stages.
.
.
It's not a valid theory, of course.
.
It's a matter of what my brain perceives to be the predominant colour.
Just now I'm noticing yellow.
Despite blue flowers and in-your-face red tulips.
On Friday, we took another detour coming home from the post office.
.
.
What colour stands out in this gloomy scene?
.
.
April last year was very warm.
This year has been much cooler so that Spring is easing itself in gently , which I like much better.
But with all the rain, the fields quite suddenly sprouted, banishing their drab winter hue.
.
.
.
A farm was neatly tucked into a fold.
.
Appropriately it was named the Up and Over Farm.
.
We followed a very windey road which led us back in the direction of home.
.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I am always struck by those white-barked trees and I like the softness of the scene.
Even in this landscape my eyes see a lot of yellow.
.
.
Yesterday was one of those "ify" days.
Not the sort you'd entrust a picnic to.
.
But it decided to end on a high note.
.
Did I say the world seemed yellow?
.
.
After this sort of light show, there's often a second act and I was ready.
.
.
In case you're wondering, no I didn't see yellow in these last images!
