More new music on the horizon - today's lunch is brought to you by A Shoreline Dream and their latest just-released single Everything Turns, a taste of coming attractions from their 8th album Whitelined, slated to drop on July 19th which will also be available as a White Vinyl 180g limited edition.
Formed in 2005, A Shoreline Dream is now multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ryan Policky and guitarist Erik Jeffries, who are based in Barnum, Colorado. This album sees them team up with Ride frontman Mark Gardener to craft a record where shimmering walls of sound wash of turbulent percussion and swooning vocals to weave an otherworldly sonic reality.
Being a fan of Ride since their inception, hearing Mark Gardener's interest and involvement grabbed my immediate attention and a hunch this was going to be a wonderful new adventure. Well, my hunch proved right and Everything Turns is a much appreciated addition to the library, as no doubt Whitelined will be come July. Their previous endeavor Loveblind was a critical tour de force and Whitelined promises to follow in its footsteps.
I think it's safe to say we're finally digging out of the era of COVID where lockdowns and isolation have finally come to an end and collaborations are in full-gear.
Ride was one of the great game-changers of the 90s - creating a genre of music that hasn't grown old or tired. Seeing the energy that was so much a part of Ride to now be imported on A Shoreline Dream is just a way of passing the gift along. That's not to say Ride are in the past - far from it. A Shoreline Dream is a side-project and Ride are still with us, as vital and present as ever.
But it just goes to prove you can't have too much good music to listen to - press play and head over to Latenight Weeknight, grab their previous releases and line up for Whitelined, coming on July 19th.
Cross fingers, Summer should be a good one this year.
