Hello everyone! It has been a while, but thank you so much to everyone who has stuck with my blog, and are reading this now.
I'm really excited to be sharing news of my new book, 31 Days of Writing, which is released today, 21st June. This is a collection of writing prompts which I've gathered over seven years of hosting (and writing prompts for) North Tyneside Writers' Circle.
NTWC is a wonderful group of writers, which meets the third Saturday of every month (other than December) at North Shields Library, 1000-1200. We write to a couple of prompts each session, as well as sometimes having guest speakers or discussions, and sharing our latest news. It was particularly nice last Saturday to start our 'shameless plugs' section with my own news!
31 Days of Writing is packed with 62 writing prompts / exercises, which can be used over any period of time, and in any order, but if you work through each, then you'll find yourself with a great resource of 'starters' or draft pieces to develop at your own pace. There are different types of prompts, and having used them all at various NTWC meetings over the years, I promise you that they can be used by poets or prose writers, or even those working in memoir or creative non-fiction.
One of my favourite things about NTWC is turning up to spoken-word events later down the line, and hearing poems that I know members have started work on as a result of one of my prompts. It always makes me feel like a literary mother hen, and I know there have been some wonderful pieces created from the prompts within this book.
I really hope you enjoy them too, and if you do, please consider leaving a review on Goodreads or Amazon.
