Even though the menu has modernized, they are still known for New England classics like Yankee Pot Roast, Baked Scrod, and Indian Pudding. With food like that, we had to see how their chowder stacked up. Cup - $8 Bowl - $9.50 There aren't jut a good amount of clams here, they are big pieces of clam. There is also a good clam flavor. This is a think chowder, but it's gluten free. We are left wondering what they use to make it so thick, but we like it. The potatoes are pretty standard, a little on the large size. The Verdict We were surprised how good this chowder is and even more surprised when we found out it wasn't made in house. We asked who made it, but our waitress wasn't sure. Do they even get credit for a chowder they don't make? Well, the bottom line is you can get a cup of chowder at The Colonial Inn that is just as good as the one at Legal's.
