The only recent work I have are more life paintings, so I decided to spare you that ordeal and pull up an old painting of a canal, narrow boat and bridge I did before I started blogging. I was pleased with this at the time and even more pleased when it sold. I had seen someone using gouache onto damp paper to create smoke so I took the opportunity to practice that technique. I was also happy with the tight colour range I used on this one, enhancing the feeling of stillness. In some ways the painting is appropriate as it is unseasonally cold around here, though, unlike the painting, there are leaves on the trees.
