The school holidays may be over, but there are exciting new reasons to visit Singapore Zoo. On August 9, 2024, the zoo will launch its third and latest behind-the-scenes tour, Backstage Pass: Elephant Encounters, while today marks the rollout of an enhanced edition of Breakfast in the Wild.

Introducing the Backstage Pass: Elephant Encounters, a unique experience that goes beyond the usual visitor experience. Starting August 9, participants will get an insider look at how Singapore Zoo cares for its five female Asian elephants. Led by an expert guide, guests will learn about the elephants' fascinating characteristics and see how their habitat is designed with enrichment devices to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.
The tour includes a visit to an off-exhibit area where guests can interact closely with the elephants, witnessing daily care routines like pedicures and Positive Reinforcement Training. This method uses rewards, typically food, to encourage elephants to voluntarily present their body parts for checks or offer their feet for nail filing.

Guided by experienced keepers, selected participants will have the chance to touch an elephant's ears and the stiff hairs on its body. The tour culminates in a memorable feeding session, where guests can hand-feed the elephants carrots and bananas while learning more about the herd and their unique personalities.
For more details and to book the Backstage Pass: Elephant Encounters, visit the official Singapore Zoo website. The tour is available daily from August 9, 2024, from 2 PM to 3 PM. Tickets are priced at $118.40 per person on weekdays and $148 on weekends, with a 20% discount for Friends of Wildlife members.
