Soft focus

By Yetismith on August 29, 2024

28th August 2024

.

Emptying my cache solved the problem of opening a page for a new post. Once.

Today I got around the issue by using Firefox vs Chrome. We'll see how far this gets me!

.

A few days ago I found myself near the river inappropriately shod. So yesterday I hauled on my shit-kickers.

Ironically, I almost fell in the Battenkill.

We'd climbed up a the bank for a better view and Grant sat on a log. Intending to join him, I got my foot caught on said log.

.

Plunging into the river would not have been a problem but bouncing down the bank on the way could have been damaging, both to my camera and me.

Luckily Grant has quick reactions and strong hands.

Aging bodies don't much like being shaken roughly, but at least there is no lasting damage!

.

A handful of the photos I took just after were randomly out of focus but whether this was a protest by the camera or my own visual oddities, I can't say!

.

The air has been slightly smokey again which might result in a sort of soft focus but not all the images seemed affected.

It was one of those 50/50 days...

.

Alternately fine or foul.

.

Noticing the dramatic contrast, I shot past the driver's head but the camera decided I was going for the raindrops on his window.

.

Moments later...

.

A fawn saw us coming and scurried off.

.

Just up the road...a turkey family.

.

.

Looking east...

.

...we turned west.

.

Nice empty roads!

.

We had somehow found yet another new road.

New to us, that is, though I should mention that quite a few of the roads we travel have been re-surfaced recently.

Tax money that goes to the infrastructure is well spent.

.

More turkeys!

.

Still not a car in sight.

.

If only we could disappear power lines.

.

We discovered we'd gone around in a circle and were only a few minutes from Cambridge.

.

The rain had caught up with us, or vice versa and it came down in torrents.

An empty route 22 was very wet.

Three minutes later, we were home from our latest short excursion. As Fall progresses, they will become quite numerous and probably less short.
