DI Frost finds himself working with DS Hazel Wallace once again when two separate cases need his attention. The first concerns the assault of a security guard at a local quarry, witnessed by an autistic young man who claims aliens are involved. While Frost must contend with the witness' actions after he is released from the police station, he also questions whether the assault is linked to a hidden scene behind the quarry and a proposed new development for the area. His second case focuses on a series of burglaries on homes, which is soon complicated when a seven-year old child goes missing, prompting Frost to investigate one of the parents, divorced from their partner, in connection to the crimes.
