Our trips to Clifton Park quite often occur on such days which makes them especially enjoyable.
.
My appointment that day was at a civilised hour which did not require the setting of alarms or the rushing through morning routines.
Not that we mind when they are. Being up early is always good, once that first foot hits the floor.
.
Setting off we took note of the clouds.
.
They seemed to mean business.
.
As so often happens, there seemed to be a battle of opposing forces.
.
Fair skies were not prepared to concede.
.
Dark clouds thought to win by scudding low.
.
Our terrain is hilly but there are also many wide open spaces allowing one to appreciate the immensity of the sky.
Something I have written before, I know!
.
It also brought to mind the open spaces of the Midwest, so constantly devastated by increasingly awful tornadoes.
Whole towns reduced to sticks.
.
The power of Nature is indeed awesome.
.
At Clifton Park fair weather seemed to be winning.
Or was it?
.
Whatever the weather when I go in to an appointment, by the time I come back out it has often changed completely.
This day it went from grumpy to full-on bad tempered.
.
When we stopped for roadworks, Grant was keen for me to photograph relays on power lines.
Not the sort of thing I normally photograph, but I do like lines and it satisfies that requirement.
.
Bad temper winning...
.
It had begun to rain and the wind was whipping savagely at the trees along River Road.
.
We turned onto Wright's Road which is when I almost got a picture of a red-tailed hawk.
MINOLTA DIGITAL STILL CAMERA
.
The bird's head swivelled to follow us as we continued on, but it was holding tight to its kill and did not fly off.
.
The Allen post box tree.
Another of my favourite subjects.
Something about the tree standing alone, pressed into service as a sign board and PO box stand, the road continuing past and turning by that small clump of trees...it appeals to me.
Some sort of statement, though I've no idea what.
.
There is something quite pleasing to me about a scene that includes rear vision too.
.
A row of rushes made their sort of statement in a field of green.
Nothing brings up green like a rain storm.
.
This house sometimes flies a Norwegian flag.
They have nice rhododendrons.
One thing having nothing to do with the other.
.
There is an apparently interminable list of things that please me.
Rows of trees.
.
Very young trees, especially.
.
There were a few more before we got home but I'll unleash those on you tomorrow, perhaps.
